May 5th marks the Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG event. On this day, money donated to charities partnered with the Seattle Foundation will be supplemented with stretch funds from the foundation. The more that is donated, the more extra money a charity receives. It is an opportunity for donors to have a greater impact with their contributions.
One charity participating should be near and dear to all attorneys’ hearts in Washington. That is our statewide Campaign for Equal Justice. The Campaign raises money for the LAW Fund, which provides much needed funding to local volunteer lawyer programs throughout the state. Whatcom County’s own LAW Advocates receives much needed and significant funding from this source. LAW Advocates is a nonprofit that matches volunteer attorneys in Whatcom County with low income clients to assist in solving legal problems ranging from veterans disability benefits, protections against domestic violence, landlord-tenant disputes, and debt collection issues.
The more we raise on May 5th, the more stretch funds we receive to help provide civil legal aid services to vulnerable low-income families and children in Washington state. I hope you will join us in donating to the Campaign for Equal Justice as part of the GiveBIG event. You can visit the Campaign’s website at www.c4ej.org on May 5th and follow the directions to GiveBIG!
Thank you!
